Collecting tax information at Blockrise
Why we ask for your tax information
To comply with European law (DAC8), we need to collect a few pieces of information about your taxes. This helps ensure that tax authorities can correctly identify crypto activity and report it if required. We only use this information for legal reporting purposes.
We ask new users only to provide this information when signing up. Existing users will be prompted to provide it later.
Here’s what we ask for and why:
- Tax residency country: Tells us where you pay taxes so your information can be reported to the correct authority.
- TIN / National ID (e.g., BSN in the Netherlands): A unique number issued by your tax authority that ensures your information is reported correctly and avoids confusion with others.
- Place of birth: Your city and country of birth are used as an extra identifier to make sure your data is matched accurately in reporting systems.
Warning: If you do not provide this information, your account may be temporarily restricted, and you may not be able to trade until it’s submitted.
