How do I set up Cloud Recovery?
How do I set up Cloud Recovery?
During onboarding, choose Quick Setup. Your wallet is created on your device, your seed phrase is generated, encrypted with a random 256-bit AES key, and uploaded to your iCloud or Google Drive in private app storage (a scopelocked appDataFolder on Android, a CloudKit Private Database on iOS) that only you can reach. The encryption key is stored at Blockrise. The whole process is automatic and takes seconds.
If you chose Advanced Setup at onboarding and now want to enable Cloud Recovery, the option is available in the app settings.
How do I recover my wallet on a new phone?
Three steps.
1. Install the Blockrise app on the new phone.
2. Log in with your Blockrise credentials.
3. Connect the same cloud account you used originally (iCloud for iPhone, Google for Android). The wallet is restored in 5 to 10 seconds.
How long does recovery take?
Under 10 seconds in normal conditions. The encrypted backup is roughly 200 bytes, the decryption itself is sub-millisecond, and the bottleneck is the network round-trip to fetch the encryption key.
Can I switch from a traditional seed phrase to Cloud Recovery later?
Yes. The option is in app settings. (building on this now, will deliver soon)
Can I move from iPhone to Android (or the other way)?
Same platform recovery (iPhone to iPhone, Android to Android) is automatic. Cross-platform recovery is currently manual: clients with a written seed phrase (Advanced Setup) can restore on the new platform. A automated cross-platform recovery flow is on the roadmap.
Can I have multiple devices on the same wallet?
Yes. Each device registers its own authentication key with Blockrise. The cloud backup itself is not device-specific; it is tied to your cloud account.
How do I disable Cloud Recovery?
Disabling Cloud Recovery is currently not possible directly from the app or dashboard. If you want to switch off Cloud Recovery, contact support@blockrise.com and the Blockrise team will guide you through the process.
