How to verify your identity

As a regulated crypto custodian in the Netherlands, Blockrise must comply with all relevant Dutch laws and regulations to operate as a financial institution legally. One of the most important regulations that Blockrise must adhere to is the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policy. It exists to combat money laundering activities and prevent criminals from disguising the origins of funds connected to illegal activities.

To prevent money laundering on the Blockrise platform, we have implemented a comprehensive Know Your Customer (KYC) procedure to verify the identity of our clients and ensure that they are only using legal means to invest and trade crypto assets. KYC processes involve verifying the personal information of clients and understanding where they obtained the money they are using to deposit funds into their Blockrise account.

Know Your Customer (KYC) at Blockrise

The KYC process involves two stages: Proof of Identity and Source of Funds. All personal and financial information provided by clients is encrypted and secured by Blockrise to protect their privacy and ensure their data is not accessible to unauthorized parties.

Proof of Identity

Proof of identity is a set of documents that verifies a person's identity, typically including a government-issued identification document. This official document helps us to confirm the personal information a client has provided and verify that they are the person they are claiming to be.

At Blockrise, clients can provide their proof of identity during the onboarding process. During the onboarding, you will be asked to use your mobile phone to take a picture of the front and back of your government-issued identification document, without blur or glare. After your ID, you will also be asked to take a selfie (picture of yourself) so we can see if your picture matches the one on your ID document (if applicable).

This can also be done through your laptop if it has a camera, but generally, the mobile phone is the more user-friendly option.
