What are blockchain explorers?
All transactions, made in the Blockrise Wallet, can be verified by clients themselves through the use of a blockchain explorer. What a blockchain explorer is and how it is used is explained below.
What is a blockchain explorer?
Simply put, blockchain technology is intended to store and track data in a decentralized and secure manner. Blockchains are made up of blocks of data, which are all linked to the previous block. This creates a chain of blocks, a blockchain. Every blockchain transaction is publicly recorded on the blockchain itself, but the data stored within each block is encrypted, making it difficult to access.
A blockchain explorer is a tool that allows users to view all the transactions that have taken place on a blockchain. Please note that different blockchains exist, so users must find the correct blockchain on which their transactions occurred. The blockchain explorer provides an interface of this blockchain for users to search, view, and analyze transactions on the blockchain network.
Using a blockchain explorer
Clients, who would like to verify their transactions on the blockchain (or 'on-chain'), can relatively easily do this. Generally, clients can independently follow the steps below to verify their transactions:
- Find a blockchain explorer for the particular blockchain you are interested in.
- Enter the wallet address, used for the transaction.
The blockchain explorer directs you to a web page, where all transaction data related to this address on the blockchain is gathered and presented.
Please note that all transactions on the blockchain occur publicly but anonymously. People without prior knowledge about your wallet address cannot retrieve your identity from your on-chain transactions.
On-chain exploration made easy
We have simplified this process significantly. After a client has made a transaction, an automatic link to a blockchain explorer is generated with the correct wallet information. If you would like to verify your transactions on-chain, please follow the steps below:
- Visit your Wallet page and find the right transaction under the header 'Transaction history.'
- Select the blue button under 'Options.'
- Click 'View on Blockchain Explorer' to find all transaction information on a blockchain explorer.
If you would like to verify your account balance in the past, you can visit Reports to validate your wallet balances at different points in time.
By clicking the Custom Date option, you can select any time and check your wallet balance. The provided links redirect you to blockchain explorers, validating your wallet balances at that exact moment in time.
